Let's hope I'm not the only person here who collects Breyer Model Horses, and Peter Stones

Hi there, I was just wondering if anybody else collects Breyer Model Horses. I'm not into the hobby much anymore, and the horses are extremely expensive sometimes. I'll share some pictures of my models. I was hoping to sell the Mini one at the bottom. It got first place at a Live Model Horse Show.

My Peter Stone Arabian Stallion
My custom Mini Whinnie, about the size of a quarter and a dime.

I've got several boxes stashed in the house and barn. None of mine are in such lovely condition though. They were all 'well loved' and have rub marks on the sides - some were re-painted by my grade school hands - and a couple have 'splints' of tape and toothpicks on their broken legs. I can't bear to throw them away but can't seem to find anyone who would want many of them. I've given a few to a nice and a few to a nieghbor's little girl. When I hear that someone has a kid that loves horses I offer them. When they hear that there are dozens.. they always get a little leary. I can't imagine why they wouldn't want every surface in their kid's room covered by a horse....

I was lucky to find an old Arabian and one of the Yellow Mount model in bay for my daughter to play with, not for display purposes. She was wonderful. Now its so hard to find models that has been used by children to play and don't want to pay full price for a new one that would end up being scratched, rubbed, even colored by my daughter's creativity!

I have a bunch of the little kind (like Stablemates) and they break easy, they're not for play just for display, so I just packaged them up and stored them. Now these days just 3 of those little guys are like 20.00! At jcp.com they sell Breyer horses there for way cheaper (or should I say "cheeper") Even a unicorn! It's beautiful and was the large size for 20.00 (still a handful of money though)

I bought this Arabian mare for 50.00 at a toy store and then I was looking on Amazon a couple weeks later, and it was selling it there for 20.00, I already took the horse out of it's box.. Live and Learn..

And also, on this model horse site: Modelhorsesalespages.com, I've seen some resin, custom model horses sell for 1,200$!! So I always tell myself, it's just a plastic horse, just a plastic thing.

I used to have several thousand model horses when I was younger (yup.. several thousand.. mostly Breyer.. some were un-named porcelain and bone china though).. sold them all when I got married and moved.. now I'm regretting it.. so I managed to find just a few of my old Breyer favorites on eBay a couple of years ago..
but I'm still not a big time collector like some people. I just get one here and there when I find one I can fit into the budget.. I think the last one i bought was about 2 years ago!

lol.. I also collect the old "DAM" trolls and wishniks

Several thousand!? My mom would have never let me do that, she'd always be making us pick them up off the floor!

I had tons of breyers when I was a kid. I lost some in moves and some to my younger sister. I now have a much smaller collection and a collection of a few select "painted Ponies" and various other horse related items.

I've been a model horse hobbyist for most of my life and still have a "herd" of plastics, chinas, customs and resins. I used to show and judge quite a bit, and have been to Breyerfest at the Kentucky Horse Park three times. There are lots of folks who just have them for fun and to enjoy though!
