Our first attempt at hatching didn't go so well. We did hatch one that died 4 days later.
It was super exciting and we've learned so much.
We did realize as we started this batch that our turner wasn't working. I don't think I really paid attention to that before which could account for the problems.

Here goes..... I'm logging a lot more this time.

Incubating Eggs

Eggs
Dec 6, 2014
Temperature set at 101 and trays filled with water.
Started incubating an egg from Red and 14 RIR eggs from Cockadoodlezoo.
Added another of Reds on Dec 7th
Egg turner doesn't seem to be working so numbered eggs and will turn until we know.

Dec 7th
Temp shows
100.5 @ 10:42 am
Humidity - 44%
Added another of Reds egg and labeled "last".
We realized the egg turner isn't working which could have accounted for our first failed incubation attempt.

Took eggs off turner, set on a dry paper towel after numbering 1-3.

At 12:57 turned eggs to #2.
Temp. 100.9
Humidity 44%

Good luck Renee! Fingers crossed for you.

Dec 8, 2014. I forgot to turn the eggs until mid day. I'm used to having the turner do the work.
My humidity is staying at 44% and the temp about 100.6.

Best of luck with your hatch! I had to set alarms on my phone so I didn't forget to turn eggs and then write it on a log....so I remembered I didn't forget! LOL

We candled the eggs last night after finally making a candler.

I think we are seeing good results in most of them.

Question.... When the yolk moves around when you move the egg, is that a bad egg?

Only two did so.
