I've got a Silkie/RIR or NHR cross that decided she wanted to try the motherhood game. She's only 8 mos but she's determined. I was going to just take her eggs away because I think it's just too darn cold to be raising chicks right now, but I decided to give some of my pure BR and BO pullet eggs a try. I'm not even sure if they're fertile but if a few do hatch I''ll get a heat lamp out in the brooder to help her out. Here's the kicker, the hen's name is Chill, my daughter named her because she was so calm as a chick but right now it has double meaning. I'll let ya'll know if anything happens on 2/2.

lucky duck. Our chickens just started laying and the rooster just started doing his thing too. Now where on to wait for a broody hen. Good luck keep updating
