What is the bad part about letting a Silkie hatch her own eggs? I have 5 hens and 1 rooster. One of the hens is super broody and always has been. I have an incubator going right now, but can I let her hatch a few of her own eggs?? She is sitting on 2 right now. If I let her hatch on her own, when do I start pulling eggs away? I imagine after a while she will have TOO many eggs under her! lol.

i would allow her to sit on the eggs as long as she will stay on them full term. i thought mine would but she left them after a while but if she is super broody you should be fine. I would mark the eggs you want her to sit on and start taking eggs away when she reaches 7 ish so she doesnt have too many. hope this helps. New to BYC

Thanks and yes that helps a lot!! I was wondering how many she could manage. She is a Silkie so she's not big. I do think she will stay on them though. Cool!! Thanks again!
