I have a broody on 3 eggs and would like to let her raise them herself. I have no idea if there is anything I need to do for my girl and her chicks to make them safe and healthy. Could you fill me in?

My first broody just hatched a chick this past Saturday evening. While she was setting, I put her own waterer and feeder next to the nest box where she was "in confinement," as they used to say in the old days. Once the chick hatched, I put chick starter out for her and my GrandChick.

That's as far as I've gotten.... I'd like to know more about it, too!!

My 2 bantam broody's just hatched 18 chicks out between last friday and sunday. I gave them their own waterer and feeder with chick starter. They are separated from the rest of the flock with chicken wire. The mothers are doing real well with the chicks, I try not to intervene to much. Good luck with your broody's.
