lettuce for my chickies?

my chicks are 2 weeks old and I started giving them grit and they got lettuce. They loved it. I just wanna know how to give them the grit. Mixed in food or it's own plate? Also one of my chicks had no interest in the lettuce and even looked a little confused. Is this normal for the runt?

Absolutely normal. Some chicks won't have the slightest clue what to do with scraps and treats, but eventually they'll copy what the others do and catch on. As for how to give them grit, there are lots of different opinions on that. Some folks sprinkle it throughout the bedding so that chicks can practice scratching and digging for it. Some provide it in a separate feeder or dish because they use a grit hopper with their coop. It's really what's most convenient for you, as long as you offer it!
