I'm setting up my school's LG right now. Temps are looking pretty good for what I get in classroom (around 99. It's really hard for me to get rock solid at 99.5). Right now I have bunch of rocks and balloons filled with flour to help hold the heat during this dry run. I haven't added water to my wells yet, and the humidty is reading at 22 from the rocks in bator. I'm planning on leaving the rocks in there when I add the eggs to help hold in the heat since I'll only be hatching a few eggs.

Should I account for the humidity added by the rocks when I add water to wells? Or should I assume the humidity right now is 0 and add water accordingly?

Thanks for your help, and here's hoping my bator's temps stay steady over the weekend!

Don't count your humidity at 0. Your humidity level you see now is the natural level for the area you are at. Ours shot up to 50% today, but it rained

I wouldnt leave those rocks in there it could mess with your humidity. I would also get a hygrometer that just reads the humidity and get a digital thermometer so you know exactly your temperature. I have found that the thermometers that come with the LG are not reliable. I had a freind have no hatches at all because the temp read 99.5 but when she got a few digital thermometers it told her the temps were around 104. I have an LG also and filled just the two outer wells for the first 18 days then the middle one also for lockdown and had a few successful hatches. The only problem I had was a few scary temp fluctuations of 104 to 108 at one time. Thankfully, I didnt kill them all with the last hatch as 9 out of 12 hatched. Good luck!!
