I just couldn't help sharing this. My Great Pyrenees, Yukon, is almost 7 months old and has been wonderful with the birds so far. He is not outside with them full time yet and is not in their run unless I'm there. But, my full flight Muscovy that are 4 months ALWAYS fly out of the run (well the 5 girls and 1 male) they roam down the drive a bit before turning and, usually, flying back up to the coop.

This morning I saw them and then Yukon walking down the drive getting behind them and turning them around. Frankly I think he is in love with them for the presents they give (poop :/ ) but I often find the girls hanging out with him outside.

I added a pic. Don't know why I couldn't from my phone????

That is great JW, I'd love to have one, hopefully one day.. and my dogs love to help me keep all the walk ways cleared of duck/chicken poop, they don't care much for the goose poo.

Thanks ML. I'm hoping the best out of him. Unfortunately, so far, he is a HUGE wimp when it comes to anything strange (one of my 12 lb Shih Tzu beats him up all the time). I certainly don't want a dog that will be living outside to be aggressive to people but he runs away when the meter reader comes. He also runs when he sees our landlord's dog (that only comes to the foot of the driveway which is about 100 yards from the house). He actually ran away when I saw an opposum in the pasture a few nights back. It wasn't close to the coops but he smelled it and would not come close.

He hasn't even started barking yet but I'm hoping since he is young he will work as an LGD. Otherwise we'll have a Great Pyr in the house since he is an awesome pup but may not be an LGD.

Because of size they mature so much slower than small dogs, Hopefully he'll make you proud, it may just take longer.
