My son in law bought me a rooster on Sunday and when he gave it to me I noticed its feathers looked odd. Upon further investigation I see that he has tons of little eggs all over his feathers, down close to the skin. I sprayed him with Adams Flea and Tick and gave him half cc of ivomec orally. Now he's acting like he's weak. What more can I do to kill the pests without killing the rooster?

That should do a great job on the lice/mites. I suspect he's anemic and undernourished from the infestation, so the next step would be to up nutrition. I'd go buy a carton of plain yogurt (or some other probiotic) and a can of mackerel for him, myself. Any meat you have would be great.

Here
is a thread on removing the nits (they are cemented on if this was lice).

Sorry I don't have experience with lice. But I have read others saying you just have to cut the feathers out if it bothers you once the bugs are dead.

I agree with ddawn about nutrition. You can also feed him scrambled eggs.

That's exactly what I used when we treated a rooster we'd picked up who had lice/mites. You will probablly want to retreat with the Adams in 10 days just to be sure about the lice. Hopefully with some extra treats your roo will perk up over the next few days
