About 2 weeks ago I checked my roo for "bugs". I found some white bugs and black bugs on his back side. I dusted him all over with DE and thought that would kill them all. DH and I went out tonight to see if they were gone and I noticed a big marble sized clump of what I thought was white poop. I looked closer and realized it must be a giant egg cluster.

I dusted him again with DE.

Is there anything else I can use that'll KILL these things? He's separated from my girls until they get older and I don't want him in with them until these mites or lice are ALL gone.

DE will kill them, but if you want, you can get some poultry dust, Sevin dust, puppy/kitten flea spray, etc. My rooster had lice when I got him and DE took care of them. Maybe it just will take a second really good dusting of it. Put it in his bedding as well, if you havent already.

I agree with Cynthia..it sounds like it might just take a few dustings. Have you dusted everything around him as well? Bedding...roost...everything! Hope you get rid of those nasty little buggers!!

I dusted him better tonight then I did the first time. DH held his wings up and I got him good there too. I have DE in his feed but the crazy guy doesn't eat chicken feed. He just eats a little scratch and grass and bugs. Weirdo. I have a huge bag of that rooster booster you (speckledhen) told me about and he won't eat it.

Tonight it looked like there was double the amount of white bugs then there was the first time he was dusted. I didn't see the small black bugs this time.

You know, you can also feed the Rooster Booster pellets to the others, so it doesn't go to waste. If you withhold his scratch, he'll eat it, I bet. Try that for a few days-no treats till he eats his supper, LOL. Good luck on ridding him of those nasty things!
