Lice powder in nest boxes

Does anyone use/recommend using lice powder and the like in the nest boxes? If so, what is the best?

If I think there is lice around, (they seem to be seasonal here) as well as dusting the birds I will put some permethrin based powder in the boxes, before putting the hay on top.

No, best not to use a pesticide preventatively as it can cause resistance.
If your birds have lice, treat them directly on the skin with either spray or dust containing permethrin.

I have the dusting area, and my chickens do not have lice (yet). Just wondering if anyone did preventative nest box additives.

I don't. Pests can become resistant to overuse so it's not a good plan to use preemptively.
