I am having such a hard time raising chickens this round. I’m not sure if its because last time
I had a closed flock (I hatched and raised my own) and this time I bought pullets from a few local homesteaders.
We had lice a few months ago. I could see them when the chickens were laying eggs crawling on their eyes. I treated with ivermectin drops and cleaned out the coop. Then coated the coop with 1st Saturday lime and DE.
Noticed a few days ago one chicken looking scraggly and missing feathers. Nothing around their eyes… checked and found lice eggs and lice again. Treated with elector psp this time and sprayed the whole coop. Now the day after… the chickens are pissed off… they are eating their eggs!!! They never have done this before. I am so stressed over this mess. I have had chickens before but never had this many issues.
Help!

Mine had lice a week and a half ago so I went to tractor supply and got permethrin, powder and liquid. I individually powdered each chicken ,cleaned out their bedding, sprayed the inside of the coop with diluted liquid permethrin, powered the perches, and replace the bedding. I’ve not seen the lice since although I probably need to powder them since the eggs will be hatching soon.
