Welcome here I live next door in Nebraska. I'm from Denver originally. Chickens are hearty little buggars, and I don't think you'll be disappointed .Hi Y'all BYC-ers, Living on a couple of acres in Colorado Front Range for almost 20 years and just started my flock 10 weeks ago. Always wanted to have chickens but never took the plunge. After hearing threats of food shortages, decided we better prepare for what may come. We bought 3 Rhode Island Red and 3 Buff Orpington chicks from our feed store about 10 weeks ago. 2 of the RIRs transgendered into Roosters (LOL) was wondering about what happens when the RIR and BO make chicks and I found this Site as others were wondering the same thing. Started keeping Bees a couple of years ago and have had some good luck harvesting honey but would not recommend keeping bees. I hope chickens are easier. The erratic weather in CO sure takes its toll on the bees and everyone has trouble with Varroa mites. CO legislature just passed a law that all eggs sold in grocery stores must be "Cage Free" and prices have skyrocketed when and if you can find them. Moved our little flock into the coop I built this past fall yesterday. We are on our way. Looking forward to learning more about chickens here at BYC, Thanks for having us.
