Can anyone confirm this is a boy? My light brahma is 6 weeks old today picked from the pullet bin. Is second in line for pecking order. My maran pullet is top in the pecking order. The thing that is throwing me off is the thick back feathers. Where do the saddle feathers grow in when it's so thick? My LB also is lower set standing like a hen.

We are keeping this one regardless. I already brought back a boy from the pullet bin with my maran. What are the chances of pulling 2 out of 3 boys from the sexed chicks?

Looks like a cockerel to me. The comb is already pretty red for 6 weeks old.

Every single chick I owned had a red or pink comb at 4 weeks and all girls. I have no idea why. I'm assuming it's the probiotics and vitamins that I give the first 3 months.

Here's my Faverolle at 5 weeks and I know she's a female. Her comb is more red then the brahma.

I've only been stumped with this one. I just hope if this is a boy, he's nice and non aggressive. Are there other signs other then comb development to look for?

I am thinking girl.

With my first pair of LB I was all worried about them being males because they feathered a little differently than the other laying pullets I had. My last DB pullet got a pink comb at about 4 weeks but it stayed pink for months until point of lay then got red. Both made me worry, and yours reminds me of my pullets so try not to worry.

It would be so nice to have this one be a girl! If it ends up a boy, I pray it's non aggressive. This waiting game is tough. I don't know why I need to know so badly. It's like an obsession I guess.

My neighbor has a barred rock rooster she pulled out of the pullet bin and he is nasty. He's attacked them a few times. She guards herself with a rake every time she enters the coop. I don't want that.

I can't see where the saddle feathers would grow in, there's no more room. Melody is so thick feathered in the back. I do hope we don't have to change the name to Mango. Either way, as long as their non aggressive, they are here to stay.
