I have a few light brahma chicks that are 3 weeks old and a few that are 5 weeks old. One of the chicks is still in his chick fluff and not much feather development. What feathers it has are only about an 1/8th of an inch long. All the rest of these chicks have full wing feathers and good starts on their tail feathers. Is this an abnormality (its a 3 wk-er) or is this just a really, really slow developer?

Thanks!

Probably a lil rooster. Roosters are slower to develope then the lil girls. Don't worry hes just being a normal lil roo.

I'm not too worried as he seems fine, but it looks so funny with such a hefty chick still in down. If its a he it may be the only one in my straight run of chicks of Light Brahmas.

I agree. The little brahma roos are so slow to mature.

My LB was the last to feather in my mixed flock so I am sure it is just that it is a little roo.
