Does any one put light in coop at night ? I’ve got some new chickens and they won’t go in unless I show them in and if you do what lights fo you buy ? Thanks

Now that the chickens are going into the coop for the night by 5:30pm, they're getting less light. It was suggested I put some light in there if I wanted them to keep laying eggs. I just put a little battery operated light in there, then added a small flashlight (both led's). I'll check on them in a few hours and take away the lights. I have rechargeable batteries, so I'm hoping that will work out.

I use a nightlight inside coop so they can see to hop up to roost after sunset.

I turn off after I lockup coop after sunset.

When I first got chickens I left nightlight on all night.
I twice witnessed bullying behavior on roosts and have been turning it off since. GC

Perhaps a night light on a timer would save a bit of hassle. I have a couple teenagers wanting to party after it gets dark out. I am adding a short string of Christmas rope lights I found in the shed and a timer to see if it helps here.
