light in Ware Chick n Barn

I have a small coop only 4x4. its the chick n barn by ware. Can a light be put in that or is it too small. my chickens aren't laying at all now that the weather is colder. And they don't seem to be enjoying the cold weather and its only Oct.!

Yes I believe you could put a light in as long as it can be protected from being hit by the chickens You might even get away with a small light bulb but if that is not bright enough 40 watts is enough.

That's what I'm worried about. there really isn't enough room to cover the bulb with metal protector and the chickens would be able to reach it. i was trying to figure out something small that they might get some heat from but likeI said it's a very small coop

how about a clip on desk lamp? then it will be on top of the cage, and the cage itself will be the barrier between them and the bulb.
