Hiya,

Just out of curiosity I was wondering when a light Sussex should start laying eggs.

Thanks

Hi, its not good for them to lay before five months. My 1st generation of Light Sussex laid at 39 weeks. Their daughter s laid at 29 weeks. so regardless of when they start, you can improve it
The later they start laying, the more mature the pullet is. Best, Karen

When the female start s laying, she stops growing. The sussex is a meat breed. The lights were tweaked to also be superior layers
So you want them to lay at a proper time when it is in the the earlier weeks but old enough for the meat bird to finish growing. I am happy with 25 weeks. Best, Karen
