Hello,
We had 11 chicks hatch last week (in incubator). Rhode Island Reds and 2 Red Sex-Links. We are keeping them in a brooder in our basement ( until they can go to our outside coop) but it's a room that doesn't have any windows so it is quite dark.
They have a heat lamp on at all times but I'm wondering if I should leave the lights on in the room during daytime hours? To help them orientate to daytime/nighttime?
Any advice is appreciated!
Thank you!!

No, you don't need regular lights along with the heat lamp. I do hope you are using a red light. I'd get them outside ASAP. I put my incubator chicks in my outside brooder at day 2. They do just fine. Good Luck! :hugs

Yes, you could do that...might not be necessary, but good.
Would be good to get them into some daylight.
