Hello to all the BYC community. I;ve been a big fan of "Yard Birds" since I was a kid and spent the summers in New Mexico with my Grandfather who was a chicken fanatic. It is his nicname that I am using as my "Member Name." My Avitar is a picture of a wild Key West rooster who made a home for his gals near the resort I was staying at. When he crowed, it sounded like he was saying "Like A Virgin" instead of a regular Roo call.
I'm starting a new flock of Bantams (bk frizzles, blk mottles & blue silkies - all cochins). They are all less than 1 month old and while I will have to thin the numbers (many are already re-homed), we are having great fun watching them grow from peepers to fledglings and soon to be full grown birds. I look forward to learning from all of the other devotees of what maybe the oldest domesticated animal known to mankind.
Bock! Bock! Bock!
