like to know how to wire a porcelain light socket to a extension cord

i would like to have some kind of diagram of some sort to help me to wire up one of those porcelain light fixtures

Usually the sockets come with a plug. Just run the thermostat to it, and then plug it all up.

the ones at ace hardware don't, not where i live

are you able to wire a six foot extension cord, like the cords on lamps, to a porcelain light fixture

I would assume that it is stranded wire. If so, you should crimp a forked terminal connector on each wire before attaching it to the fixture. The terminal screws on the fixture won't accept stranded wire very well and the crimped terminal connectors will make a much better connection.

It doesn't matter what you wire, always use this simple rule.

black to brass colored screw (HOT)
white to silver (NEUTRAL)
green to green (GROUND)
