Any number of reasons, she may have hurt her leg jumping down off of something. could have stepped in a hole. or she may need some niacin or brewers yeast. it could be a vitamin diff.one day when i got home my duck was limbing and i thouht she was not going to make it at night anyway why is she limbing
We can't tell you if it will heal or not, but we can say that given time ducks are amazing at healing, so do what terrielacy suggested and keep her separated for a time from the flock where she doesn't have to expend alot of energy trying to keep up, and water deep enough to float in kinda like water therapy. She may surprise you and in a couple days be back running with the flock. How old is she?will it heal or not
What is your purpose for your pekin? is she a pet or will she become dinner eventually? if she is a pet then I'd get some niacin supplements and start adding it to her water everyday till you see complete improvement. Niacin is cheap, don't get flush free and not time released, add to her water by crushing the pill up or sprinkling the capsule over her water, if it's a niacin diff. you should notice improvement in about 3-5 days. If she is going to be dinner I'd still treat her, it's all about treating our flock humanely whether we intend to eat them eventually or keep them as pets. Pekins are known to have leg problems because they get large and can weight alot so be careful not to give her too many treats. especially corn or scratch. What do you feed her.we dont know she is a pekin duck and we bought her craigslist
Well then just do what has been suggested and hopefully what has caused the limping will eventually be healed.she is a pet and and we feed her flock food
