My hen has been limping since she sat on some eggs. Her chicks are three weeks old now. I have started massaging the bad leg and moving it backwards and forward. It is not as stiff now however I am concerned that the bad thigh is massive compared to the good one. Has anyone got any ideas? thanks

I am sorry no one answered you.

I think the problem is that everyone was totally stumped.

I have raised chicken for years, and grew up with them...

And I can't even guess what cold be the matter with your hen.

I hope it is better at this point.

Hi thanks for your interest I am actually taking her to the vet tomorrow because I can't watch her three rooster chicks six weeks old jumping on her back every few minutes to 'have sex' they also defecate on her. spent two hours yesterday bathing her then blow drying her dry. :( poor chicken. What makes it worse is she is an amazing chicken.

RIP Shamrock. She didn't make it out of the anesthetic. They did an xray she had a bad infection which had been left too long. It started when she was sitting on eggs then she had the baby chicks and I felt like I couldn't separate her. I left it too late. They said she might have made it with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory tablets. I feel so sad and so guilty. She was suffering and her temperature was of the scale. If this helps anyone else save a chicken..... :(

Thanks for the update on Shamrock. Sorry.
