My white crested Pekin has been limping around and when I got home today he was in the house. His foot is it swelled they both look pretty much a same but when he walks he walks with his leg turned in. I'm pretty sure it's not bumble foot, and I think I recall him tripping over the edge the nest box yesterday. Do you think he will heal soon? He still eats poops, and drinks normally, but i am worried.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
J

My Pekin started limping yesterday to. I have her inside the house in my old brooder box so she isn't walking on her hurt leg as much. Not sure what her problem is but I'm sure rest and warm baths will help.

Does he act like he is trying to keep the weight off the one leg? Try keeping him in the house in a large dog crate or big box so he's not walking on it as much. Warms baths always seem to help hurt ducks to :) he may have just twisted or sprained something if you you can't see any visible wounds

Just got in - StacyAK is right, hydrotherapy (lukewarm bath time, deep enough water to float in, no soap) can really help.

Something else I do is make Epsom salt compresses and wrap the leg and hold the duck for as long as we both can stand it. E.s. is a laxative, be careful, but it also is good for inflammation and sprains.

If it is a sprain it will take days for it to get all better, perhaps a little longer, depending on severity. Check all the way up the leg - some have found their ducks get something wrapped tightly around the top of the leg.

I founf out she has bumblefoot :/ i soaked her in epsom salt water ( she snuck a drink :v) then i put on some polysporn bit didnt wrap it.
