PLEASE HELP. New and clueless bird owner.
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
10 week old guinea keet. Normal weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
The bird is limping and breathing heavily, laying down often and lagging behind the grouo
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
No
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
The toe is very swollen and the nail curled back and stuck there. I did cut the toe nail a little too low, it bled but it appears it will grow back in the same manner.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
Perhaps the nail was too long? I have not the slightest clue!
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Bird is eating and drinking normally.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Normal poop
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
Cut the toenail low, it bled, treated it and the bleeding stopped.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
whatever I need to do to fix the problem
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
coop with out door run. It only houses my six Guineas. Sand is used inside and wood chips cover the exterior
