Limping Peacock

Ok, so I have a green/blue/white male of 6 years of age, and he started limping about 1.5 months ago. He would do it only sometimes, but most times he would kinda lift his foot and stare at it or avoid standing on it, especially after sleeping he would be stiff. Since he sometimes gets into fights with things we thought it will go away. When it didn't we took him to the vet. They did x-ray of his hips last week and said he has arthritis. They gave him liquid medicine for arthritic dogs. This is an avian vet so I hope he knows his stuff. However, even after taking this medicine for days, he does actually seems to be even worse. They did exam and poop test and he is fine. All I know is that I can't have him suffer for another 15 years. I can't believe it, he is so young and to think he will be in pain for rest off his life...I will do more search on possible remedies. I am scared to give him human vitamins as it might be harmful. One thing is Turmeric/curcumin supposed to be great for joints/inflammation/arthritis. But now sure how to give it to him. Since he's Indian, maybe he just needs some indian food

I still wonder what we did wrong. He is very large male, and I wonder if him eating chicken and eggs when he was a baby, made him grow too fast. But he refused any other food!
Now he's on a diet of Mizuri game food(also wonder if it's bad for him, as this was a recent addition to his diet), sprouted whole grain bread, scrambled eggs, and greens.

If you don't see any injury on his legs, I would bet it might be arthritis for you too.

Let me know if you find any alternative to pain medicine, I'll look too.

I wonder if you could talk the vet into the new remedy to arthritis done in dogs and cats. It will most likely be VERY expensive for it but if you're willing you could ask your vet about the new stem cell arthritis treatment. What they can do is remove fat cells from the body, then put the fat into a centrifuge to separate the fat cells and harvest the stem cells. Than they take those stem cells and inject into the animals body. The stem cells will then repair the damaged tissue. They're doing this primarily in dogs and cats though.

Yes, pepper and turmeric but safe for birds? I could make an oil infusion or buy supplement that is not powder maybe...
I'll research the stem cell cure. Since he is so young and our only one, I would be happy to invest in his future and happiness.
Thank you :)

When winter and other storms come around it will become bad. Cold you can sort of help, as for weather changes, can't do much there.
