Not sure what is going on. Matilda is a 1.5 year old Australorp. She has been having feather growth problems for a few months, but we finally figured out that another hen was pecking her. That he has gone, and she has been getting lots of new feathers.

This afternoon, I went outside to discover her limping. I found what looks to be a wound on her breast, and some thick and shiny skin on her leg.

I don't know what I'm looking at or how I should proceed. She is eating and drinking but not walking well. Please advise! Thanks!

Is the first picture of her breastbone (keel) area, and is the second picture of her vent area or what? Breast blisters or scabs can be common in chickens who are not walking well, and spending a lot of time on the ground, as well as chickens with mycoplasma synovitis (MS.) The skin in the second picture looks very thickened. Are her ankle or hock joints swollen?

The first pic is her keel; the second is the upper part if her leg, the part indicated below. (I sprayed some blukote on after I took the first pics.)

She does not have a swollen hock or ankle. She has also not been laying around very much and this morning was in the woods with the rest of the flock.

She does have a similar patch of skin on her upper back, shown here.

Thanks for answering!
