One of my girls has a wounded leg

She's limping and when she stands still, she raises it. Even when I treated them to some black sunflower seeds, she chose to lay on the ground.

They are only 4mos and I've never had a wounded chicken before...should I do something extra for her, how do I know when to really be concerned

Thanks for any info!

Have you inspected her leg for injuries? Look at the very bottom of her foot for a black spot...if you see one, search for "bumblefoot" on here.

I had a rooster once that broke his leg, I'll never figure out how. But, I could actually feel the break just above the "knee" joint. Took him to the vet, and we ended up making a sort of sling for him and separating him. Hope that's not what is going on, because frankly it was a pain to deal with a roo in a sling! HA! GOOD LUCK!

I'm sorry I forgot to add some info! I checked out her feet and nothing seemed unusual. No injuries and felt around her foot, with no flinching. I also have a roo that has started to (not too gracefully) mate with the girls and he can be kind of rough. I'll check for a black spot though, never heard bumblefoot...I'm new to chickens! A roo would be a pain in the sling Thanks
