Joe, you are out of control man. The Department of Corrections is gonna
start dropping off extra prisoners at your house.

Your hawk story has inspired me to get some netting for my run. Headin to
Home Depot.

By the way Ocean State has those little spring water looking food and water
dispensers for $3 and $5. They are $15 at the feed stores. I'm gonna clean
them out later.

Really ? I'm heading to Ocean State in a little while too....which one do you go to ? Naugatuck or Seymour ? I am thinking that I'll have to have multiple waterers so I can always cycle a fresh one out and the frozen one back inside to thaw.

Yeah the mason's line is kind of a quick fix....I think ultimately I'm going to go with some type of netting. I like having a big run and I'm just getting out of the starting gate with chickens again so I just have to be patient....and vigilant !!

We go to Seymour. My wife is bugging me to get moving cause our dogs
chewed up her area rug last night.

The waterers and feeders are little and good for brooders but they will work fine
as a short term option for the standards. There are 2 kinds. They look identicle.
One is $2.99(feeder) One is $5.99(waterer). I think they are meant or cats or
lap dogs.

Joe- what does your chicken house look like inside. We have a temporary one right now. We got custody of DH's boss/friends chickens during the his divorce, they came with a large cage?? We have added a few weeks ago plywood sides and a roof to keep them warmer this winter as one hen got frostbite last year. After our storage container gets moved, we will build a REAL henhouse(after, after, after). There is always something more to do. I keep looking for ideas to incorperate into my design DH, who is a contractor, carpenter, estimator, has told me figure out what you want and I will design it and build it for you.

Hi Joe,
Just wanted to say hello to a fellow CT chicken lover. My husband works in Oxford, it's about 30 minutes from us. Sorry about your hawk problem. Your coop looks great! Even though there are many hawks near my house I've never had one attempt to get a chicken, until this summer! I was out in the yard at the time and and saw it come right into the run! I was so surprised because I have big apple trees that cover most of the top of the run. Luckily, I have a great buff orp. rooster that did his job and got all the girls inside. My mother gave me some ribbon that is kind of like foil, it's red on one side and silver on the other. I tied it all around the run and it seems to be working. The hawk came back several times for about a week but I haven't seen it since.
