What kind of bedding do you use for newborn Ringneck Pheasant and Chukar Chicks? I was thinking of using the small pine chips like you would use in a hamster cage or what not. Would you reccomend placing newspaper down on the bedding for the first couple of days until they are able to tell the difference in what their feed is or would paper towels work just as well? Thanks

Hello,
You shouldn't put anything other than papertowels ot a towel because they will mistake the chips for food and get a blockeage that will kill them, Also make sure you out marbles in your waterer so they don't drown and always keep it fresh.
Good Luck

Ive got a quail waterer for the brooder now. The pans so thin you can barely fit your pinky in it. Would you say I still need to drown proof that?

I still would put marbles because anytime you have something newly hatched thay are coming from being surrounded with fluid and will naturally gravitate to water. You would want to give them somehing that they won't rest there heads in and drown when they fall asleep because there beeks are so small at that age.
