Hi
Not new here, but been away for a while as I have not kept chickens for about 2 years now. But I am back and excited to be collecting 6 new girls at the weekend.
So I go and clean out my old chicken coop today in preparation for the new arrivals, (which still had same old wood shaving in there) and I came out covered in these tiny little black mites.
Could it be possible that these mites have been in there and survived for 2 years?
I spread all the old shaving on my flower beds, does that mean I have spread them all over my garden and have to treat all that too?
The last thing I want is to bring my new flock home to an already infested coop. I know from past experience that a lot of you use DE to treat your coops, but I am looking for something that will 100% kill these mites once and for all before the new girls get her. The advantage is I do not have to worry about chicken being in there while I treat as they are not here yet.
Need something strong to wipe this little blighters out. I am in the UK so please advice with products that I can get here.
Thank you.
