when our chicks first hatched, there was only 1.. the 1 hen that we had was busy sitting on the other 5 eggs so i was worried that she wouldn't take care of the chick so i brought him inside and put him in a little shoe box w/ a heat lamp over him. and of course... he hated being alone. so he peeped and peeped until i picked him up and held him in my hand. and there he stayed for the rest of the day... and the next day. then finally another chick hatched so i put them together. and each day it seemed another egg would hatch and soon we had 5 peeping chicks. so then i put the chicks w/ the hen and watched as the months flew by. soon the hen and had died and my old rooster was left with all these cockerels and pullets. soon after he died as well ( probably couldn't stand the kids). at fair time i sold the chicks... all but one. sadly, no one wanted a lone rooster so i was left with that one little boy that i held in my hand for 2 long days. i knew he was lonely, and i was afraid if he was alone for to long he might get depressed. so, after long weeks of looking, my mom found a man (on this website!) who would sell us 6 white silkie chicks. there was supposedly 2 roosters and 4 hens, which ended up being 3 roosters and 3 hens. so now here i am with 4 roosters and 3 hens... and after everyone thought that 1 little boy that we held in our hands would be the nicest little thing in the world... he ended up being rather aggressive to everyone! except me
. (thats him sitting on the bucket)[/img]
