Happy to find such a wonderful community and resource; I have already learned so much! I am a new chicken mama in western NC and currently have 10 twelve week old Black Javas. I think I have 4 cockerels so I guess I will be dealing with that issue soon. Honestly had no idea I would enjoy these raptors for anything more than their eggs! We're still building an outside covered run but I love to see them free ranging on our 11 acres. I grew up in Pennsylvania surrounded by farms and always wanted to live on one; I'm semi-retired and turned 60 this year and decided to experience whatever part of it I can now.
