How many birds does he lose?
How long has he been doing this?
He complained a lot about the raccoon losses which occurred when birds where penned, about 20 birds during late summer. Recently he complained about Barred Owl that took three birds before issue resolved. He does not get out and watch critters like I do. His poultry yard close to house is also very picture worthy but that will have to wait till spring.
This particular setup for about 6 years. He has been keeping chickens free-range for well over 40 years. He has been far more involved with game fowl that involves walks so he knows his stuff. He also hunts. From what I can discern he has fewer Red Fox and Coyotes. I do not know why. His area also has winter roosting for both Turkey and Black vultures. Quail are all but gone.
