Local chicken laws city of Franklin, VA Southampton county

Hey all! My husband and I are stationed in Virginia and we’re looking to buy a house. I have chickens now, but would like to not be limited to the number of hens and be able to have roosters. Does anyone know what the local laws for Southampton county, specifically Franklin? I’m finding lots of homes, but don’t want to have to get rid of my birds. I’ve tried to look, but all I can find is fowl can’t run free lol. So I’m assuming you can have chickens somewhere down there, just don’t know the laws. Thanks!

My bf moved from SE Virginia, and says that Franklin, VA / Southampton County is quite rural and that he can't imagine that you could not have backyard chickens. A quick call to Animal Control will likely give you the answers you need.
