So I’ve gotten a bit carried away with chick math lol. We’re going through 50lbs in a week or less… The spare 5 lb bag didn’t even feed everyone this morning. My dad picked up a bag of chick starter at the granary and I’m unsure how I feel about it. It’s basically dust! On the one hand, I’m interested to see if our bantam chicks do better on it. But will this be wasteful? Any concerns I haven’t thought of. 22% protein, non medicated I’m not super interested in fermenting right now and 7 feeders with mash is overwhelming

You say you are not interested in fermenting.

But if the chickens throw that food around and waste it, or if they do not like the fine texture, you might try adding water to make it wet. That can reduce the waste, and the chickens may like it better, but it skips several steps as compared with actual fermenting.

Of course, getting it wet will mean it does not work well in feeders meant for dry feed, and it is more bother than feeding it dry. Whether it is worth the bother will depend on what your chickens do when that feed is dry.

It’s not working very well in my current feeders, but it’s split about 50/50 on who likes it. The bantams and babies are gobbling it up! The older ones not so much. I meant to ask if they have an All Flock pellet and might switch most of them over to it. So it would be the same time consumption as dry I guess
