First time hatch and day 18 is here and since I have to go to work early I have chosen to set them tonight as I candle them.

Correct me if I am wrong, I have an incubator setting now with temp. at 99.5 and humidity at around 70 - 80 to put them into and the only thing to do know is just watch

and keep the heat and humidity at the current settings without opening. I am planning on adding warm water through a vent hole if it is needed during this time, I have placed 2 sponges were I can reach them through the vent holes along with the slots in the bator.

Also I am thinking about using egg cartons to hatch in, since I last candled I have 35 live chicks. Do you think this is a good idea or should I leave the eggs on there side and take a chance there won't be any pin ball roller chicks in this group?

I am not sure because of the room issue in the Little Giant #9200.

Well here's to hoping they all

Thank you to anyone with suggestions.

i am using egg cartons for the first time this hatch. they seem to be working ok so far but i staggered my hatches so i only have 24 in there right now. there does not seem to be a room issue so far. good luck!!!!

I liked using the cartons very much and don't think that I'd go back to laying them on their sides.

Temp sounds great, humidity at closer to 70% sounds more right. 80% may drown them I think? I'm sure someone with more experience will be able to clarify that.

otherwise tips???....

DON'T OPEN THE BATOR! Even if you are 5 days overdue! My babies are 5 days past due, and just now hatching! Other than that nope no advice, lol!

Well I candled the eggs last night and I had 5 that I could not tell if there was any movement but I put them in anyway, wish my daughter had been here she can see alot better than I can. I have come to the conclusion that the hardest thing about hatching eggs is getting the temp. set, don't have any problem with the humidity it's the temp. My Hova-Bator once it was set it has stayed right there in the same range took a few days but it has done well, but the Little Giant #9200 I have two of them and they are so hard to set, the stem is hard to turn and the least movement makes a big change. Wish I had all Hova-Bators now. If I get some good hatchs I'm giving serious thought of going out to the shop and building a wooden one and see if I have better luck getting a steady temp.

Have seen no pip and heard no peeps yet but this is only day 19 told myself to just relax and wait for Friday and see if there is anything going on then.

We have a little giant, and yes the stem is hard to turn. BUT once we got our set, and got used to it it's never failed! The temp is always right on and has never fluctuated.

A watched egg never pips and a watched pip never zips

I should make that my signature line. Good luck and try and relax. Just make sure you have your vents open, everything else sounds good.

Came home for lunch saw a pip, no moverment or sound will have to see how much progress there is tonight after work.
Thanks again for the advice everyone nice to find a place were people are so helpful.
God Bless
