Lockdown day 16

Hi I'm new to this ! I'm on day 16 of hatching coturnix quail and all i have seen is a little movement in 1 egg about 2 days ago. Is this normal ? I've been patiently waiting !

It depends. If you happened to leave the humidity to low for a short period of time then yes its normal. If not you may have bad eggs or something went wrong when incubating. I hope you had a good hatch.

I haven't hatched quail so I'm no help. Did any hatch?

Yes we had 7 hatch out of 12 fertil eggs .My fiance opened them and 3 of them didn’t developed. 2 were fully developed but probably couldn't get out They are the cutest little fluff nuggets

It depends. If you happened to leave the humidity to low for a short period of time then yes its normal. If not you may have bad eggs or something went wrong when incubating. I hope you had a good hatch.

We got 7 out of 12 nist on day 19

Yes we had 7 hatch out of 12 fertil eggs .My fiance opened them and 3 of them didn’t developed. 2 were fully developed but probably couldn't get out They are the cutest little fluff nuggets

Thank you , This experience has been amazing and so much fun. The kids are in Awe I ordered mixed button quail & 6 celadon ( they sent way more button then i was expected (18!) I put them in the bater this morning after the full 24 hours this time. Hopefully all goes well.

Do you have an independent, calibrated, accurate, thermometer(s) and a calibrated hygrometer or were you using the instruments sensors? Hatching on day 19, tells me that the temperature was low throughout the incubation period. Never trust the instruments sensors, especially on the cheaper incubators, they are notoriously inaccurate.

I bought cheap incubators on Amazon one is tricottage and the other is smart incubator (they look the same ) i didn't have a thermometer or hygrometer at first because i thought they would've come with them . When i finally got them i learned the temp was completely off and humidity in the high 60"s. I've learned not to keep the water line hooked up because it keeps humidity very high. so when i see it drop , i hook the hose up and put very little water. Hopefully this new hatch will be better now that i have learned alot more.
