When I take the eggs off the turner and place them on there side for lock down, do I pull the air plug on the top at this time? How does that effect temp? do I need to monitor and adjust the temp?

I have eggs at home that need to go into lockdown tomorrow and eggs at school I am hatching that need to go into lockdown on thurs.

Thanks, I am a first timer and want a good hatch.

I don't know which incubator you have. That can make a differnece. These instructions for the 1588 may come in handy, but for your specific incubator, they may not be correct, especially if it is a still air instead of a forced air. You might try Google to find the instructions for your specific incubator. Sometimes they can be well hidden. Or maybe you actually got instructions with your incubator?

For my 1588, I find removing the plug does not affect temperature. It does lower the humidity, but not by a lot. Since it is a forced air, it is pulling some outside air in through those little holes in the sides of the bottom section so the hatching chicks do get enough oxygen with the plug in. For a still air or possibly with other forced air incubators, that might not be the case.

If you can tell us which model of incubator you have, you might find someone on here with great experience on that specific type. I'd expect their advice to be much better than mine.

Good luck!!!

Its a 1583. I found the manual and it looks the same as the link you provided. Thanks
