locking up coop for winter

Not to mention, chickens aren't always the smartest things on earth. They'd wonder each week what that giant thing is that scares them to pieces!

The little girls are social. They like to tell you how their day went.

Thank you all . I guess I will keep doing what I have always done, is to check on them everyday..I wouldnt want to lose any of my pets..
and they do greet me.so my idea to save time was a real stinker LOL I guess thats how to learn ask.
to day is wet as can be, rain coming down in buckets and they are
in their coops Iguess they know enough to keep their feet dry.LOL

IMHO, that would be neglect! I could never leave any living thing for a whole week without checking on it--not even a house plant! Dixie

Sissy, I have brahmas and they free-range. Winters are very wet in this part of Arkansas. Their feet get wet and they get dry again too. It's not a problem.

Sissy, I'm relieved to hear you will upgrade your proposal on animal care. The thing is, if you really don't enjoy caring for them, animals are a burden best offered to someone who gets a thrill every time the door opens. Neither mud nor snow nor dark of night discourages. And as pets they thrill to your visits too!
