My husband and I have kept chickens for the past five years. Recently, we lost one of our two hens, which brought us down to one. Since chickens are social animals, a lone chicken simply won't do. At this point, we are deciding between getting out of the chicken "business" altogether (really, it's just been a fun hobby) or finding a friend for Midge, our Barred Rock hen (I think she's 3 or 4 years old). We thought we'd start off by seeing if it would even be possible to find her a good new home. We'd want her to go to a family that raises chickens for fun, not food. Also, she is used to free-ranging, so we'd want her to be able to continue doing that. If there's anyone in WA or OR (or anywhere really, within, say, 5 hours of Yakima, WA) who is looking to grow their flock and could provide a happy home to our Midge, please get in touch!
