Hi,

I had a pair of Ringnecks but the male passed. My question is should I try to find her a new home for the hen and try again with pheasants after winter? The pheasant pen in close to my three chickens, so she does get interaction. I am in Arizona so the winter will be mild...maybe getting 30 at night and 50 during the day.

Thanks,

I am certainly no expert, but, in my opinion, that hen will be much more conditioned to being around you, used to your feeding habits, and friends with her neighbor chickens. I think she will help the new guys adjust to life at your place much faster than starting over. I have had ringnecks that were wild as bucks and the ones I have now that I raised with other chicks are tame. If she is fairly tame already, I would keep her. Good luck!
