Lonely Chicken Feather Loss?

Help! I've recently lost a chicken, which left me with two chickens. Shortly after, I noticed that these two have been losing an excessive amount of feathers and are not healthy. There are no parasites, they have not had a diet change, and there have been no predator attacks. Is it possible that they are losing feathers out of loneliness/mourning? If so, will adding new chicks solve this problem soon enough? Please help! Thank you

Welcome to BYC, fourcallingbirds! There is so much to see, do, and learn here! Unfortunately I cannot answer your question, as I have never had that experience with my birds, but hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to.

I wonder if the are just having a normal "molting period," where they lose old feathers and replace them with new ones.

Hello, sorry to hear you lost one of your flock. A couple of my birds have started molting but I can't say that's what's happening with yours.
