Hi All,

We sadly lost our very first chicken overnight

, we are all terribly sad today, and our other chicken is already missing her only feathered companion.

My daughter is asking for a new friend for Fluffy, but I'm not too sure about the best way to add another chicken. Another fully grown one? A point of lay? Another chick or couple of chicks? Fluffy is an Isa Brown, about 7 months old. Must we stick to this breed?

So many questions, I'm new to chickens, and raised our first two from day old chicks. Sadly I didn't think I'd be thinking about replacing one so soon.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Get two approximately the same age...then if something happens to one the other will have a buddy. Two is not a flock. Breed doesn't matter so much.
