I’d gotten my husband a Swedish Silver & a Cayuga duckling for Father’s Day. Something broke into our chicken house last night & took the Swedish Silver. :(

There is 8 guineas, 7 chickens, & a turkey living in the chicken house/pen with the duckling, but will it be ok without another duck? It’s about a month old, so I’m not sure that bringing in day old ducklings for it is the answer.

Will it be ok by itself with just its other roommates? I feel bad for the poor little thing.

I would get another duck or two. Maybe get two sexed females. (Assuming you don’t know the sex of the remaining duckling.)

We don’t know the duckling’s sex. The hatchery we buy from that comes to the feed store doesn’t sell them sexed. Would it be ok to bring in a couple of very young ducklings like that & introduce them?

I’d brood them separately until they’re a couple of weeks old and more sturdy and then try a shared swim time. Until then, let your older duck see and smell the ducklings a couple of times a day so they become familiar.

You def don't want to put new ducklings in with chicks they will probably get picked on and injured. I hope you have secured you pen and coop because what got this duckling will most likely be back pretty quick.
