I bought a Cayuga duckling that was all by itself in the brooder. The rest of the flock didn’t make it except this little fighter. I don’t have much experience with ducks but this little guy doesn’t get up much and sleeps a lot. He also shakes pretty bad. We got two pekin from another flock and they were also the only survivor. The pekins are healthier and more active and I really want this guy to survive is there anything I can do?

Do you know why the entire brood of live ducklings died off? that seams pretty strange

Iam sure you already know but day old to 1 week old need 90 degrees, then lower the heat 5 degrees every week after that. They also need a good starter crumble and lots of fresh water in a dish they can dip their bills in

So if you could post a picture of the duckling, and your brooder setup it we might be able to advise something to help

I hope the little one makes it!

It has happened at a few stores in our area he’s starting to get stronger but the store said it was because of shipping. They were planning on just leaving it to see what happened but I wanted to give it a chance. Should I separate the ducks?

Could you post a video when he does do it? What is the temp in their brooder?
I don’t have a thermometer I’ll try to find one and I’ll let you know the temp

I one time took in a baby chick that was dying... in her box I put a little stuffed animal and she nestled in it and slowly started eating again I’m not sure if she was cold or what but I think that helped

Now that he’s with two others he’s cuddling up with then and is doing a little better he’s drinking a bunch still can’t walk super well
