We rescued a turkey, a few months back,I think he is a Blue Slate. He was in bad shape but getting so much better. His feathers were all broken, feet were burned from urine/feces but now looking good. I have him right next to the two geese, a wire fence dividing them. My geese are extremely territorial so putting them together was not an option but they do sometimes lay next to each other by the fence. Anyway, I know its been hot but even on the breezier days he stays in his coop. Like today he came out for a while, I spot cleaned the floor, gave him some watermelon outside and when I went back out he's inside again. He lays in the corner of his coop all day. He eats well, has fresh water every night/ 24/7 grain then for dinner 2pm he has whole kernal corn/tomatos/cucumbers and keilbasa mixture. All the chickens get the same. I guess I'm worried he may need a mate. We are a rescue and I'm really tipping the scale at how many animals I can take but I'm thnking he may be lonesome. Getting him a mate I worry about people aggression. I have a roo that is so protective of his hens we can't get inside the coop or run without being attacked. This guy is huge and I don't want to be put in any compromising positions. What to do, what to do. He is still very shy, can't touch him. He doesn't have a huge yard so I'm also hoping he's not cramped. In this picture I'm standing right outside the geese yard. We took as much as we could from the geese for him. His yard isn't huge but he can also walk behind his coop. On the other side (farther side) are my goats.
