Today I have a quite interesting experiance. I'm used to seeing small owls sitting from trees and on top of my chicken coop watching my birds, but not like this.

This morning I went to feed my chickens and ducks, to find one duck (A Grand Champion Mallard Btw) missing from the group. At first i thought he was just hiding like he sometimes does. I walk into the pen after i fed the chickens and to my surprise, a giant (I mean GIANT! Biggest owl i have ever seen) owl was staring at my with his big yellow eyes. We just stood there and looked at each other. This was the closest i have ever been to an owl and it was beautiful, but at that point I realized the other duck was dead. I managed to get the owl out safely without any harm to him or my other birds. Thankfully he only killed the one duck (Which he ripped the head off and didnt even eat, it was a horrible scene). The owl managed to break through the pen net because of his sheer size. I will have to lock them up tonight in the coop because I can not fix the netting yet.

If you have chickens or other poultry i'm sure your used to theese predators, but just make sure that your pen is secure and owl proof!! This isnt the first time it's happened, but i havnt had any predator problems for almost a year.

EDIT ~Sorry everyone! I did not realize there was already a section in the fourms for predators and stuff!
