long nails

I notice some of my hens have long nails, they are not curling under or anything that extreme, but am I supposed to trim them? They are roughly 2 yrs old.

What type of surface are your birds kept on? I've never trimmed a bird's nails, mine are on dirt with some gravel or decomposed granite. You can try putting stones, etc in there for them to wear the nails down.
