I'm not new to raising hens. We live in the Seattle area and started our first flock in 2005.
We currently have 9 hens: 1 Americauna, 1 Gold Sex Link, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Lavender Orpingtons and 2 Wellsumers. Over the years we've had as many as 12 and as few as 3.
We love raising hens for the eggs and the entertainment.
My hobbies include crafting, cooking & baking and making handcrafted artisan chocolates.
I work in health care, my spouse works in the construction industry and thanks to him, we have a totally overbuilt coop. It is affectionately known as the CHilton. Our kid has grown and flown the coop. :) Our first flock was a gift for our child by their aunt nearly 20 years ago.
I've known about BYC for as long as I've had hens, but just joined as I felt like I had something useful to share.
